It is now too late to apply Ant Killer. Apply again next year when the soil temperature is above 10 degrees C. Contains 16 million nematodes to treat 16 large ant nests Completely safe to Children and pets
Ants can make sitting out in your lawn a pretty unpleasant experience!! Ant nest normally occur during the summer months in sandy soils. Although not as severe as worm casts, ant mounds can often disfigure lawns, paticularly when run over with a lawn mower, causing uneveness over time. Ants can damage roots causing grass to yellow. Ant mounds should be brushed into the surrounding grass before mowing. Turfshop’s Ant Killer is just the thing to free your lawn from ants!!
How to use Apply the Ant Killer nematodes whenever the soil is above 10 degrees C (anytime from April – September). The Ant Killer can be applied directly on to an ant nest or spread over an area of 12 sq.m.
Ant Killer Nematodes are like microscopic worms which attack the ants by entering through natural openings in the body and releasing a bacteria which prevents feeding, eventually killing the ant. The nematodes then reproduce and disperse to find and kill any further ants.
Ant killer Nematodes can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 weeks before using. Once opened the entire pack should be used. Ant Killer Nematodes should be mixed with water and are best applied through a sprayer, hose end feeder or watering can. You cannot over-apply the nematodes. As soon as you have applied the nematodes you should water the ground well and make sure the ground doesn’t dry out for at least 2 weeks.
Once all the ants have been killed the nematodes also die out as their food source is depleted. This means Ant Killer Nematodes are only a cure and should not be used as a preventative when no ants are in the soil.
The best thing about Ant Killer is that it is entirely safe to humans, pets and the environment. There are many chemical treatments now which have an adverse affect on the wildlife in your garden, particularly bees who are suffering as it is at the moment.
Please note: As soon as the Ant Killer arrives in the post, pop it in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. Don’t worry about putting it next to foodstuffs – it’s completely harmless to humans and pets.
