Fertiliser spreaders are used to spread granular fertilisers. There are two kinds of fertiliser spreaders - drop spreaders and rotary spreaders.
Drop spreaders feed the fertiliser out of the hopper and drop it onto the grass. They are suitable for small lawns. You have to be very careful not to overlap in order to avoid scorching, or burning, the grass. Equally, you must take care not to miss areas of the lawn to avoid uneven striping.
Rotary spreaders feed the fertiliser out of the hopper onto a spinning plate, which then flings the fertiliser out into a wide arc. They are more accurate than drop spreaders, and you are less likely to damage the grass by overdosing.
